Eric Troy , LMHC

Eric Troy brings a long-standing commitment to psychology and counseling, tracing his interest back to his earliest exposure to the field. He completed dual bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Sociology, followed by a Master’s degree in Psychology with a specialty in Mental Health Counseling. He also earned a doctoral degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology and completed the required internship and supervised practice that led to licensure.

He is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and serves as a Qualified Supervisor for mental health and marriage and family therapists in Florida. Practicing in South Florida exposed him to broad cultural diversity and helped him develop skills for working effectively with clients from many backgrounds. His clinical work spans a wide range of concerns, including stress and anxiety, depression and bipolar conditions, trauma and abuse, grief, addictions, relationship and family problems, parenting and intimacy-related issues, career and work-life balance, and LGBT-related matters.

Eric uses a variety of therapeutic techniques tailored to each person’s needs, drawing from cognitive and cognitive-behavioral approaches, DBT, narrative methods, family systems perspectives, and supportive and holistic strategies. He emphasizes the client’s expertise in their own life and works collaboratively to build on existing strengths, improve coping, and move toward meaningful goals. He is accepting new clients in Florida and provides services in English and Romanian.

Therapeutic Approaches and Online Care

Eric integrates several evidence-informed approaches to meet each client's needs. Client-Centered Therapy focuses on empathetic listening and creating a supportive environment where the client’s perspective guides the work - it is helpful for building self-esteem, exploring life transitions, and strengthening self-understanding. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps identify and change unhelpful thinking and behavior patterns and is effective for anxiety, depression, stress management, and many everyday difficulties. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) teaches practical skills in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness, which can be especially useful for intense emotions, relationship challenges, and coping under pressure.

Choosing the right approach is a collaborative process. Eric will work with each person to assess needs, preferences, and goals and adapt methods over time so therapy remains relevant and effective for the individual.

Online therapy offers flexibility to fit sessions into busy lives through video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or text-based messaging. These options make it easier to access licensed professionals from home, coordinate care around work or family responsibilities, and maintain continuity of support during life changes or relocation.
